At the Eastern Iowa Banquet on October 22nd, Pam Stenzel was our guest speaker. Pam is an international speaker on abstinence who was conceived in rape. Her life is a powerful argument against those who say “I am pro-life except in the cases of rape”. Not only was Pam enjoyable and educational but more than $147,000.oo was raised for the work of Informed Choices. Thank you to all who attended and sponsored this event. Events like this are more than fundraising they also bring awareness to the community on issues of “LIFE”. With more than 700 People at the Coralville Marriott we had our largest banquet to date.
On November 14th, we had our first Central Iowa Banquet with Governor Mike Huckabee as our Keynote Speaker. Governor Terry Branstad also spoke about his pro-life stand. We were very blessed to have two Governors present and supporting Informed Choices. Governor Huckabee took time to thank Gov. Branstad for attending the dinner. Gov. Huckabee said he knows that for every invitation a governor accepts, there are 100 more they have to decline. “The presence of your governor at this event is an extraordinary affirmation of … his commitment to life,” Gov. Huckabee said. 
Gov. Huckabee ‘s talk was very inspiring. One thing he stated was that he knows there are some people today who doubt whether they can make a significant difference in preventing abortion. “We can not ultimately legislate people’s minds and hearts, that, we have to change through places like Informed Choices.” With more than 600 people at the Iowa Events Center we raised about $122,000.00.
Between the two events we have about $220,000.00 left to reach our budget for 2014.
